Das neue Theme des Blogs

(Für einen Vergleich die Maus über das Bild bewegen)

Vor zwei Tagen haben wir nun endlich das Standard Wordpress-Theme hinter uns gelassen und dem Weblog einen neuen Anstrich verpasst. Das wäre eigentlich schon viel früher nötig gewesen, denn wie wir bei uns selbst festgestellt haben: Keiner bleibt auf einem Weblog mit dem Standard Theme.

Als Grundlage hat ein “altes” Design gedient, das wir für eine Social Community konzipiert und auch verwendet haben. Die Community gibt es nicht mehr, aber der Look hat überlebt.

Pragmatische Umsetzung:

Uns waren nur 4 Punkte wichtig:

  1. Der Text sollte gut lesbar sein. Sprich: Schwarz auf Weiß und groß. Die Zeiten von 10px großer Schrift sollen langsam mal zu Ende gehen.
  2. Youtube-Videos sollten auch im Breitbild in voller Größe eingebaut werden können. Also Contentbreite min. 640px.
  3. Mit kleinen Auflösungen klar kommen. Netbooks sind ja immer beliebter.
  4. Es sollte uns gefallen!

Antizipieren ist Müll

Als René und ich das erste Projekt zusammen gestartet hatten, haben wir lange überlegt: Was will der Besucher sehen? Versteht der Besucher die Navigation? Wie simpel muss es für den DAU sein?

Aber das ist doch hier Quatsch. Warum bei der Produktgestaltung – oder hier bei der Bloggestaltung - nicht einfach dem eigenen Geschmack vertrauen und diesen erstmal umsetzen. Gerade bei einem Weblog sind die Besucher eh Technik-Nerds im Vergleich zum Durchschnittsbürger. (Eine Studie in der Schweiz 2007 hat ergeben: Der größte Teil der Weblog-Leser ist hoch gebildet und nutzt täglich Blogs)

Wenn man etwas so gestaltet, dass man es selbst gerne benutzen würde, dann hat man immerhin schon mal 1 zufriedenen Benutzer – bei uns sind’s sogar zwei. Das ist doch erst einmal ein Anfang.

Unvollständigkeit ist perfekt

Ich mache kein Geheimnis daraus, dass dieses Wordpress-Theme alles andere als komplett ist. So gibt es noch keinen Code für die Kommentare, das Archiv oder die Suche. Aber das gibt es hier ja auch alles noch nicht. Erstmal wollten wir schnell und unkompliziert das Ganze “raushauen”. Wenn wir dann erstmal überhaupt Leser haben, die irgendwas davon benutzen möchten, dann kann man immer noch schnell Entsprechendes nachreichen. Keep it simple, stupid!

Nebenbei bemerkt: die Kommentare sollen dann so aussehen wie die Mitteilungen bei der alten Community.
